Copeland Family Reunion in Clarkesville, GA…

The Lake and Effie Copeland Family Reunion has come and gone again for another year. We met this year on the campus of North Georgia Technical College, adjacent to the ancestral Copeland farm in Clarkesville, Georgia.

There were over a hundred members of the nine different branches of the family tree represented at this year’s Sunday gathering. In addition, the annual Copeland Best Ball Golf Tournament was held at Apple Mountain Golf Club in Hollywood, Georgia, with the usual pencil putts, lies, and laughter that usually accompanies this event on Saturday, July 30th. On Saturday evening, another contingent of Copelands and kin and friends gather at cousin Mike and Melinda’s house in Gainesville, Georgia, not far from the Civic Center, to partake in a Low Country Boil of shrimp & sausage with potatoes, corn, fresh veggies, and cole slaw… both Yankee and Southern varieties (since we now have Copeland clan members who gather from scattered places around the USA).

It’s all great fun Re-unioning with everyone, catching up on family doings, and getting to spend some quality time with the people we love. But it’s over all to quickly and all we have left are the memories (and some photos) and some new connections we’ve made to help keep the family clans together for another year and more.

Here’s a group photo we got just before we ate lunch. There were a few more who showed up a little late (doesn’t it always happen?) who didn’t get in this year’s group shot, but we’ll have some of them in the collection when we put it up on our new Facebook Copeland Family Reunion site in a few days… Meanwhile, enjoy!

High School Football again…

The approaching end of summer means high school football is about to begin. We’ve started our “fall” shooting schedule down in DeKalb County with Chamblee Touchdown Club’s football players and cheerleaders. It’s plenty hot but the bright days make for some great photos. Here’s a couple of my favorites so far that show a variation on a theme… the classic “Heisman Trophy” pose. At this level, we like to let our subjects pick their own poses rather than use a “one pose fits all” approach, and we feel this produces some really nice shots for these footballers.

Rookie Golf again…

Gainesville Parks & Rec Pee Wee Golfers

Has it been a year already since I last posted some Rookie Golf photos? Yep, and some of these kids are becoming veterans, coming back for a second year to Gainesville Parks & Recreation’s program at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. I’ll bet some of them will soon be ready to turn pro and win a Master’s tournament like Gainesville’s Tommy Aaron did.

Anyway, here’s this year’s group of Rookie Golfers ready to tee up again…

Kenzie’s Session…

Now that you’ve seen the teaser shot from Kenzie’s session, I thought you might like to see a four minute slideshow of selected images from it as well. This won’t be up for long, so enjoy it while you can. It’s a hi-def version so you may want to hit the pause button down on the left after you hit the start arrow to give it time to load the first time, then hit continue after the loading bar has run a bit. That way it won’t bug you by stopping every few seconds if you don’t have high speed downloads.

Class of 2012 Seniors…

The Senior photo season is here and I got started last week with Kenzie Bell from North Hall High. We took a ride up to Helen, GA on a rather dreary morning, expecting the skies to clear but taking advantage of the beautifully soft light you get on a rainy day. We found several spots along the river meandering through downtown Helen and then picked out some other sites as we made our way back to downtown Gainesville.

Here’s a teaser shot, actually, it’s the very last shot of the day that we took in a tree on the Square in Gainesville. Her Great Grandmother must’ve thought we were a little crazy, but she really did like the results as we gave them a quick once-over on my laptop in the coffee shop. Enjoy this one and look for some more as I get the post production done on a few other favorites. By the way, if you know some Seniors who would like some great location shots done, just let me know.
